A
rejuvenated Ronald “Suki” King stormed to victory at the 2025 Barbados
National 3-Move Restriction Draughts Tournament, delivering a commanding
performance on the final day of play at the All Souls Church Hall.
King, a two-time world champion, faced Winston Lowe in the penultimate round before taking on Tyrone Batson in the finale. He swept both encounters 2–0, earning maximum points and sealing the national title with a final tally of 27 points—a clear statement of his enduring dominance in the sport.
The fight for the runner-up position came down to defending champion Jack Francis and former national champion Junior “Post” Walrond.
Francis kept his hopes alive with a win over Carson Farley in Round 7 but was held to two crucial draws by Ryan Eustace in the final round.
Walrond, meanwhile, scored a 2–0 victory in Round 7 and capped off the tournament by outmaneuvering Richard Grazette 1–0, securing second place with 23 points, just ahead of Francis, who finished on 21 points.
In the Majors Division, Anderson Hunte sealed the title with a decisive win over Anthony Blackman, finishing on 21 points after seven rounds.
Joseph Williams, competing in his first national tournament, delivered a remarkable performance to tie Claytis Pinder on 17 points. Williams was awarded second place on honour points, marking an impressive debut in national competition.
The tournament concluded with praise for the high standard of play and sportsmanship shown throughout, and the stage is now set for an even more competitive showing in 2026.
